Will Mono Become the Preferred Platform for Linux Development?
by Edd Dumbill -- Miguel de Icaza recently led a two-day meeting that brought together developers and early adopters of the Mono project, an open source effort to create a free implementation of the .NET Development Framework. Edd Dumbill attended the gathering and reports on how Mono could become the first-choice platform for Linux software development.
Mono開發了兩套API:
1、Micrsoft .NET 類庫API的實現：user interfaces, web services,? database access.
2、Mono特有的API：GTK user interface toolkit, the Cairo graphics system, and Mono's own database layer.
支持Mono的.NET開發工具:
MonoDevelop
支持的功能：智能感知、debugger、解決方案資源管理器
Open source Mono/GTK應用程序:
MonoDevelop，Nat Friedman's
Dashboard
，
Muine
（music player）, and
BLAM
（RSS aggregator）
Mono 1.0 計劃于2004年六月發布: 包含 .NET 1.0 與1.1 APIs?以及C# 1.0的實現。
